Abstract

This study aims to determine how the development of the Dagong Dance of the Akit Tribe in Bantan Tengah Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. This Dagong dance used to only function as entertainment at the time of the wedding ceremony for the Akit tribal community. And with the development, this Dagong dance has functioned as a means of ceremonies, entertainment media, and performing arts. This study uses a qualitative approach. The object of research is all elements of the development of the Dagong dance of the Akit tribe in the village of Bantan Tengah, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province which includes elements of Presentation Volume, Presentation Area Development. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that: 1) The progressive direction of the Dagong dance increased the intensity of the performance, although not so much and cannot be calculated with certainty. Seen from 2010 to 2022, this Dagong dance has only been performed 9 times, both at wedding ceremonies, entertainment, and performing arts. 2) This Dagong dance has developed in the area of presentation from several decades of time which continues to run, along with the development of the needs of the community.
