Abstract
The rapid growth of Indonesian society has an effect on increasing the use of fuel to meet needs, both for household needs and for the needs of production activities in various economic sectors. Briquettes are an alternative energy. The process of making briquettes requires a printing press that is capable of producing quality briquettes. Considerations of simple tools, easy to manufacture, easy to maintain, and easy to carry are the basis for the design of briquette presses. The design process begins with the design of a three-dimensional tool using the Autodes Inventor software, then a stress analysis is carried out using a hydraulic compression force of 30 MPa, 40 MPa, and 50 MPa. From the analysis, the maximum stress on the frame is 50 MPa. The material for making the frame of the press tool, the researcher uses St 37 plate which has a strength of 360 N/?mm?^2. Based on these safety factors, the design is declared safe. Furthermore, the process of making the frame is carried out by assembling the components of the frame by the welding process. To keep the tool from corrosion, all frames are painted. The capacity of this tool is able to print 6 kg/hour of briquette dough and produce 337 briquettes/hour. This tool takes 66 seconds in one printing process. The density of briquettes produced by the press is in accordance with SNI standards.
