Abstract

The title of this research is "Transformation of the Malay Traditional Wedding Procession into the Ark of Asmara Dance at the Angsana Dance Community Studio, Karimun Regency". Transformation, according to Sedyawati, basically can occur throughout the ages or throughout the ages, which occurs because of the renewal carried out by artists as a result of creativity that is adapted to the development of the world of dance. The problem in this research is how is the transformation from the traditional Malay wedding procession to the Ark Asmara Dance at the Angsana Dance Community Studio, Karimun Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the transformation of the traditional Malay wedding procession into the Ark of Asmara Dance at Sanggar Angsana Dance Community, Karimun Regency. The theory in this study uses the theory of transformation and the creative process of dance creation. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. As for the types and sources of data obtained through primary data from people who know about research and secondary data from books, relevant studies related to research. Data collection techniques with observation, structured interviews, and documentation. This dance was created to be performed in the Dance Parade event competition in 2017 which has the theme "Cultural Procession", this dance is a dance creation that is lifted from the traditional Malay wedding procession in Karimun Regency. The elements in the Bahtera Asmara dance include: theme, motion, music, floor design, property, make-up, and costumes.
