Abstract

The public perception that prisoners who have been in detention centers still have a tendency to become recidivists. This exposes prisoners to be discriminated against in their own environment. But it still repeats the crime commited, be it a similar crime or a different crime. In general, people still look bad or have negative thought for a criminal and recidivist. The formulation of the problem raised in this study is how the community reaction to the recidivist family in the village of X. As for the type of research in this study is a type of qualitative research with the a im of describing the actual situation of what is happening in the research location through the collection, identification and analysis of data in order to obtain a answers to problems that are formulated. The key informants in this study were the community, religious leaders, RT leaders, local security forcas. While the informants in this study are residivist children, recidivist wives and the recidivists themselves. The results of interviews conducted by the key informants and informant about community reactions to recidivist in village x are that there are some people who choose to keep their distance or avoid these recidivist so that they can better monitor and be aware of what the recidivists are doing. There are already some who prefer to avoid the recidivist. However, there are some people who still want to deal with the recidivist and provide their transcendental attitude, but of course only a few people.
