Abstract

In modern times, industrial progress and knowledge of information technology regarding foreign production easily come to Indonesia with interesting and unique innovations that make many changes for humans, one of which is the level of human consumption patterns as consumers, people are interested in buying products without thinking about needs, so people find it difficult distinguish between needs and wants at the same time, this is called consumptive behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of self-control to the consumptive behavior of Korean fan employees in Pekanbaru. The research method used is quantitative. The sampling technique in this study used a non- probability purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 100 people. The data collection used in this study used a self-control scale and a consumptive behavior scale. The data analysis method used is Pearson product moment correlation. Based on statistical analysis, it was found that there was a negative and significant relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior of Korean fan employees in Pekanbaru with a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.317 and a significance value (p) of 0.000 (p<0.05). This shows that the hypothesis is accepted, meaning that the higher the self-control, the lower the consumptive behavior of Korean fans in Pekanbaru. On the other hand, the lower the self- control, the higher the consumptive behavior of Korean fans in Pekanbaru.
