Abstract
Currently, one of the main points in carrying out the functions of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is conducting research and publishing the results of the research. One way to publish the results of this research is by using a digital journal (e-journal). Digital journals (e-journals) through the Open Journal System (OJS) are a means of publishing research results in a wider scope. OJS is a means of publishing scientific papers and is one of the most widely used website applications. As a website that is visited by many readers or has high traffic, OJS must have a capable server. The web servers used in this study are Apache and Nginx. The application used in this research is Apache JMeter with parameters measured are response time, throughput, RAM usage, CPU usage, sent, received, error, and log. To simulate how the web server will perform when accessed by a public client, a secure tunnel is used which functions to expose the local server to the public internet. Nginx web server can better manage data bandwidth or data requests/sends from users, can handle a high number of requests at one time and is more responsive in responding to interactions between servers and clients. Apache web server uses small CPU resources and minimal errors. From the tests carried out on these parameters, the Open Journal System website that uses the Apache web server works more optimally than the one using the Nginx web server.
