Abstract

Paus Street in Pekanbaru City is one of the local roads that serves local transportation with the characteristics of short trips, low average speed, and the number of entrances is not limited. Jalan Paus is a link between Jalan Tuanku Tambusai and Jalan Arifin Achmad, so that the road is traversed by public vehicles. A decrease in the level of service on inner-city roads can be in the form of damage to the road surface, because in general, heavy vehicles rarely pass through inner city roads. Minor damages that were not immediately anticipated for handling caused the damage to be even more severe, had a wider impact and reduced the capacity of the road itself. To determine the type of damage and the level of damage or the value of flexible pavement conditions that occurred on Paus Street, Pekanbaru City, a study was carried out using the PCI method and the SDI method. The pavement condition assessment system uses the PCI method based on the type, level and degree of damage that has occurred. The SDI method has 4 main variables, namely: percentage of crack area, average crack width, number of holes, and ruts. Types of damage that can be found on Whale Road include patching, longitudinal cracking, pothole, edge cracking, depression, alligator cracking, rutting, ravelling. The results of the analysis of the condition of Paus Street show that the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) value is good with a PCI value of 67.87, where the value of 67.87 falls in the range 56 - 70. While the results of the analysis of the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method The Whale Street section is in good condition, indicated by a value of 26, which is somewhere between 0 – 50. Therefore, a periodic survey of pavement conditions can be carried out so that information on pavement conditions can be useful for predicting future performance. In addition, it is also possible to handle damaged roads so that they do not become more severe, so as not to cause higher damage.
