Abstract

This study aims: (1) to identify and describe the learning motivation of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year; (2) to know and describe the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year; and (3) for knowing, analyzing, and describing the relationship between learning motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic and the science learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is a research with a quantitative survey method, the research data collection starts from July 2020 to August 2020. The research population is all students of class VIII SMPN 8 Pekanbaru in the academic year of 2020/2021, with a total sample of 78 students. The data analysis in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. Through the research results, it was found that: (1) most of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year were still motivated to learn during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is known from 45 - 46 (58.48% - 59.07%) students who stated that they were motivated or gave answers strongly agree and agree; (2) the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year are known from the average value of 82.21. Where the lowest score obtained by students is a value of 76.50 and the highest is a value of 86.50; and (3) it is known that the rcount value is greater than the rtable value (0.8235 > 0,2900) or between learning motivation and learning outcomes there is a strong or high correlation, where the magnitude of the correlation that occurs is 67.81%. Thus the research hypothesis can be accepted, that there is a relationship between Learning Motivation during the Covid-19 Pandemic and Science Learning Outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 Academic Year.
