Abstract

The emergence of the COVID-19 virus has made the government implement several health protocol rules so that people's behavior or habits also change. One of them is the social distancing rules that make people switch to using ecommerce for shopping, where most of the shopee e-commerce users are female students who are still unstable and easy to influence because they are in the transition period of teenagers to adults. Therefore, this study aims to determine self-control of the consumptive behavior of Riau Islamic University students who use the shopee application during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample in this study was 361 people. The method used is the purposive sampling technique. The self-control variable was measured using a self-control scale consisting of 26 valid items (?= 0.758) while the consumptive behavior variable consisted of 21 valid items (?= 0.718). The correlation coefficient in this study was 0.513 with a signification of 0.000 < 0.05. The hypothesis test in this study used spearman's rank and from the results of the hypothesis of this study, so the hypothesis was accepted.
