Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the interaction and main effect of various types of organic fertilizers and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of rainbow corn (Zea mays L.). This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City. The study was conducted from May to June 2021. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is various types of organic fertilizers (P) consisting of 4 levels, namely without fertilizer application, oyster mushroom compost, bokashi ketapang leaves and chicken manure. The second factor was NPK 16:16:16 (N) fertilizer consisting of 4 levels of treatment, namely without fertilizer application, 15 g, 30 and 45 g/plant. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, number of rows of seeds per ear, length of ear, diameter of ear, weight of ear per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interaction of various types of organic fertilizers and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer had a significant effect on the parameters of flowering age and cob weight per plant. The best treatment was a combination of various types of organic fertilizers bokashi leaves ketapang 1 kg/plot and NPK fertilizer 16:16:16 45 g/plot. The main effect of various types of organic fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 was significant on plant height, number of rows of seeds per ear, length of ear per plant, diameter of ear and weight of 100 seeds. The best treatment was bokashi leaf ketapang at a dose of 1 kg/plot while the best treatment for NPK 16:16:16 was a dose of 45 g/plot.
