Abstract

The research used qualitative research methods. The instrument of this research was documentation, which was done by herself. In collecting the data, the researcher used the documentation technique and the steps by Leonila Yolanda Adikayon (2020), in which she read BBC News, selected and collected the data systematically, following the types of compound words and also breaking them into parts. The result showed that the researcher found 48 compound words, which are dominated by compound nouns with 46 occurrences, and they have a percentage of about 96%. Then, it is followed by a compound verb with a single occurrence. It is about 2% of total occurrences. same as compound adjectives, which had only 1 occurrences with a percentage of 2%. The conclusion can be drawn that compound words can be found in any type of text, such as short or long articles.
