Abstract

Corrosion can occur due to the presence of fluid flowing through the pipeline that can dissolve the ions that cause corrosion, namely hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2) and chloride (Cl2), corrosion can cause a decrease in the quality and quantity of materials or damage to a metal, iron, carbon steel because it reacts with the environment. One way to inhibit corrosion is by adding inhibitors. Mango leaf extract is one of the natural ingredients that can be used as an inhibitor to inhibit the corrosion rate due to the polyphenol content of 12.69% in mango leaves obtained during testing with UV-VIS spectrophotometric characterization The soaking process uses aquades added with HCl, immertion test was carried out on pipes in a solution ph 3 on corrosive medium with immersion times of 72 hours, 144 hours and 216 hours at variations in concentrations of 0 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm, 100 ppm to determine the effectiveness and performance of the inhibitor. Based on the test, the highest effectiveness results were obtained at 6-day immersion at an inhibitor concentration of 75 ppm resulting in an efficiency of 52% with a corrosion rate of 0.32653 mpy in API pipes 5 grade B. So that organic inhibitors from mango leaves are effectively used in acidic media with the right concentration
