Abstract

Clay is one type of soil that has a low enough carrying capacity so that it does not meet the quality of technical and physical requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the soil to get the conditions that have been determined. The use of tire ash as an added material is due to the increasing population of vehicle use so that the tire waste produced is also increasing. Percentage of the use of tire ash added with variations in mixed content of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% as well as cement and lime 5% for all variations of the mixture calculated based on dry weight of the soil with conditions without soaking (un-soaked) 1 day and 4 days and curing conditions (Soaked)1 day and 4 days. Based on the research that has been done, the results of the CBR testing of the original soil are 9,33% for 1 day, while for 1 day curing conditions are 1,83% and 4 days are 1,26%. In 1 day un-soaked condition, the variation of the use of 5% cement, 5% lime, and 5%, 7,5%,10% tire ash, the results obtained sequentially were 27,64%, 24,22%, 21,78%. In 4 days un-soaked conditions obtained 29,39%, 25,11%, 24,56%. In un-soaked condition , if the tire ash content increase, the CBR value produced decreases. Meanwhile, in the 1 days soaked condition, the variations of the cement 5%, lime 5%, and tire ash 5%, 7,5%, 10% the results obtained sequentially were 6,89%, 5,53%, 4,87%. In 4 days soaked condition, 7,39%, 9,11%, 10,06% were obtained. Variation in the addition of tire ash in 4 days of immersion can increase the CBR value if the soil and the longer immersion time, the more it affects the increase in the CBR value of the soil.
