Abstract

We can say that the problem of drug abuse in Riau Province is getting more serious. In fact, almost all areas of Riau, various levels of society without exception, may have been contaminated with narcotics, plus the geographical condition of Riau which borders several neighboring countries. Environmental conditions, family conditions and lack of understanding about religion are one of the factors that cause so many people to fall into narcotics. In this case, BNN Riau Province has a very strategic role in efforts to prevent and eradicate abuse and illicit narcotics traffickers in the Riau Province. The law that regulates narcotics is Law No. 35 of 2009. Based on this, the question arises, "How is the Riau Province BNN's efforts to prevent and eradicate narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking? And what are the obstacles or obstacles faced by the Riau Province BNN in preventing and eradicating narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking? Observational research or research with a field survey is one type of research that the author will use. This type of research is a research by collecting samples from a population and using interviews as the main data collection tool. and if we look at its nature, this author's research can be categorized as descriptive research, which is based on the facts seen in the field. From the results of the study, it was found that the efforts made by the Riau provincial National Narcotics Agency in Preventing Abuse and illicit narcotics trafficking were taking actions such as Pre-emptive (Guidance), Preventive (Prevention), mapping of vulnerable areas and community empowerment and eradication efforts by taking action against the perpetrators of narcotics crimes and the obstacle factors faced by BNN Riau Province are the difficulty of changing the mindset of the people who are still apathetic towards narcotics and the lack of budget for eradication and the lack of sophistication of the technology used.
