The difficulty of getting clean water makes residents in some areas in Indonesia hindered in carrying out daily activities such as bathing and washing. The distillation apparatus is used as a means of purifying water from unwanted substances by means of an evaporation process in which the water resulting from the evaporation has been separated from substances that are not needed so that the water from the evaporation can be utilized. The addition of a reflector can increase the amount of heat absorbed by the distillation apparatus. The reflector is made with zinc plate and made 3 variations of the reflector area, namely with an area of 3.79m2, 5.35m2, 7.19 m2 and with variations in the distance of the reflector to the distillation apparatus, namely 0.5m, 0.75m, and 1m. This study aims to find the area and distance of the reflector that has the best performance against a tiered type collector solar distillation device. The test was carried out on a tiered type collector solar distillation model and using peat water. The location of the test was carried out in the area of the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau at 10.00 am to 16.00 pm which took up to 9 days and the peak data obtained for each variation was taken. In this study, the reflector with an area of 5.35 m2 and with a reflector distance of 75cm distillation obtained the best results in increasing the performance of solar distillation with a tiered type collector model with an evaporation energy value of 56 watts, a condensation energy value of 56.5 watts, a distillation rate of 16 x 10-5kg. /s, 30% product efficiency, and 19.5% efficiency of the distillation apparatus.
