Abstract

The objective of the research was to know the significant effect of using Dictogloss technique towards students’ speaking ability of 10th grade at SMAN 1 Siak. Speaking is one of the four skills in English learning. This research focus on speaking combined with the Dictogloss technique. Dictogloss technique is a dictation activity and a combined activity, namely the activities of students to listen, understand key words that can be developed after that work together make different version of the text still in the same context. This research was Pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post- test design. It consisted of only one class, X IPA 1 as the experimental class by doing pre-test and post-test design. In this research, the instruments was using spoken test about advertisement text. The population of this research was in grade X SMAN 1 Siak. There were six classes. The researcher only chose one class as the experimental class. There were 34 students in one class. The data of this research was obtained through spoken test on pre-test and post-test. The researcher used SPSS 26 to analyzed the data in order to find out whether there was the significant effect of using Dictogloss technique towards student’ speaking ability of 10th grade at SMAN 1 Siak.
