Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning participation of students at SMPN 4 Seberida. This study aims to investigate whether there is an influence of Jigsawbased Cooperative Learning Method on students’ participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 4 Seberida. The type of the study is correlational quantitative research. The subject of the study is the students in class VIII at SMPN 4 Seberida and the object of the study is the influence of Jigsaw-Based Cooperative Learning method on students’ participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 4 Seberida.The population of this study consists of 111 students with a sample of 87 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. Based on the data analysis, it is found that: first, the level of mastery of the jigsaw-based cooperative learning method of the teacher in the perception of students is in the high category. Second, the level of mastery of students’ participation is also in the medium category. Third, there is an influence of the jigsaw-based cooperative learning method on students’ participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 4 Seberida. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the magnitude of the influence of jigsawbased cooperative learning method on students’ participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 4 Seberida is 0.617 or 61.7%, which is included in strong category because it is located in the range of 0.60-0.799 in the interpretation table of the correlation coefficient, while the remaining 38.3% is influenced by other factors.
