Abstract

An alternative energy generator or so-called fuel cell is a device that can convert conventional energy (using fuel oil) into alternative energy with the basic principles of electrochemistry by converting chemical energy into electrical energy. Seeing the increase in the number of people in the current era, the amount of energy needs also increases so that energy reserves from fossils are also decreasing, so we need a renewable energy (alternative energy) for the future at a low cost and friendly to the environment. PEMFC (polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell) is a suitable solution for this application, with its corrosion-resistant properties and very light weight make it an advantage to use this method, using a composite and polymer composition, namely (60% Graphite; 10% Carbon Fiber; 30% resin), (50% graphite; 20% carbon fiber; 30% resin), and (40% graphite; 30% carbon fiber; 30% resin). Composite pellets obtained from this composition were obtained in a hot pressing compression process and five (5) Tons of compression at a temperature of 150℃ for testing electrical conductivity, compressive strength, and macrostructural observations. The addition of carbon fiber in this study made the value of the electrical conductivity test high with the composition (60% graphite: 10%: carbon fiber: 30% resin) in the first specimen (1) with a value of 49.81Scm. In the compressive strength test, the value becomes high with the composition (40% graphite: 30% carbon fiber: 30% resin) in the third specimen (3) with a value of 13.21 MPa.
