Abstract
Biodiesel is one type of alternative energy that can replace the use of fossil fuels, biodiesel can be processed using vegetable oils and animal fats. most of which are used are vegetable oils, because they are more economical than animal fats. This study has several objectives, namely to determine whether there is an effect of variations in the amount of coconut dregs on the heating and deposition method on the characteristics of biodiesel and to obtain the amount of coconut dregs in the heating and deposition method which has the best biodiesel characteristics. The ingredients for making biodiesel are: 3kg and 4.5kg coconut dregs, 3% potassium hydroxide, 20% methanol. This research method uses heating and deposition methods with a research time of 15 days aimed to determine the amount of density produced, the amount of viscosity produced and the total heating value of biodiesel produced from coconut pulp. From the results of the study, it can be seen that the amount of coconut dregs in the heating and deposition method affects the density, viscosity and calorific value. The heating method can produce high density, viscosity and calorific value compared to the deposition method.
