Abstract

This study aims to determine how the relationship between sense of humor and coping with stress in final year students who are compiling a thesis. Students are people who are currently studying in college and have the task of completing the studies they are undergoing. Final year students have an assignment in the form of a thesis as a requirement to graduate from the college. In this study, researchers used quantitative methods. The total population in this study was 2,644 final year students who were writing a thesis at the Islamic University of Riau, with a total sample of 348 respondents. In this study, researchers used a non-probability sampling method, namely purposive sampling. Data collection tools for independent variables were measured using the Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale (MSHS) from Thorson and Powell modified by Nanda Safrida Putri with 24 items, while the dependent variable was measured using the Ways of Coping scale compiled by Annisa Ika Setyowati based on aspects of Lazarus. and Folkman with 50 items. The results of data analysis using the Pearson product moment correlation technique, it is known that there is a significant positive relationship between coping stress and a sense of humor in final year students who are writing a thesis.
