Abstract

Correctional Institution (LAPAS) was originally a prison system, as the executor of the crime of loss of independence. Guidance in correctional institutions is inseparable from the communication process. By communicating people can understand themselves and understand others, also can understand what they need and what other people need. Due to the current Covid-19 case, the implementation of the coaching carried out has an effect on the order in the Class II B Correctional Institution of Pasir Pangaraian. This research has 2 problem formulations, namely: How is the effectiveness of coaching for prisoners in Correctional Institution Class II B Pasir Pangaraian and what are the inhibiting factors in the implementation of coaching for prisoners in Correctional Institution Class II B Pasir Pangaraian. The method used to answer the problems mentioned above is by sociological legal research by conducting research at the Class II B Correctional Institution in Pasir Pangaraian. The data used in this thesis was obtained through interviews, distributing questionnaires, laws and regulations, books, journals, theses - theses, and the opinions of experts. The entire data that has been obtained is then analyzed in a qualitative normative manner, then concluded through a inductive method. The results of this study prove that the effectiveness of convicts in the Class II B Correctional Institution in Pasir Pangaraian is in accordance with Law Number 12 of 1995 concerning Corrections, but the implementation is not optimal. The purpose of the principles of the coaching system is to improve the personality of the prisoner himself. The inhibiting factor for inmates in participating in the program of coaching activities is still low in the Correctional Institution due to the overcapacity of prisoners in the Class II B Pasir Pengaraian Correctional Institution, so that the coaching program is less effective with a lack of officers and lack of facilities to conduct coaching.
