Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to read the Qur'an of class XII IPA 1 students at SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru, because researchers see that there are still many students who are categorized as not good at reading the Qur'an. This research is a classroom action research. The subjects in this study were students of class XII IPA 1 SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. Data collection techniques using observation and tests. Based on the data obtained, it can be seen that the ability of students to read the Qur'an before the tahsin method was applied was considered poor with a percentage of 37% for the makhraj aspect and 30% for the recitation aspect. After applying the tahsin method in the first cycle, the score increased to 54.55% for the makhraj aspect and 57.58% for the recitation aspect with a fairly good assessment category, because the test results in the first cycle had not reached the predetermined value category, then proceed to cycle II, in this cycle the score increased to 87.88% for the makhraj aspect and 84.85% for the recitation aspect with a very good assessment category and the results in the second cycle were completed and the research was not continued to the next stage. The results of this study can be concluded that the application of the tahsin method can improve the ability to read the Qur'an of class XII IPA 1 students at SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru.
