Abstract

The type of this study is a quantitative correlation research. This study is motivated by the low achievement of students in learning Islamic Studies. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is a relationship between teachers’ pedagogical competence and students’ achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade XI at SMAN 2 Minas. This study aims to investigate the relationship between teachers pedagogical competence and students achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade XI at SMAN 2 Minas. The subject of the study is the students in grade XI at SMAN 2 Minas. The population of the study consists 40 students. This study has two variables, namely teachers pedagogical competence (variable X) and students achievement (variable Y). The results of the study show that there is a relationship between teachers™ pedagogical competence and studentsX achievement in learning Islamic Studies. It can be seen from the results of data processing by using IBM SPSS statistics 26 for windows that the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient analysis obtains a probability value of sig (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, it means that there is a relationship between the teachers’ Pedagogical Competence and the students’ achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade XI at SMAN 2 Minas. The magnitude of the relationship level between variable X (Teachers Pedagogical Competence) and variable Y (Students Learning Achievement) is 0.664 or 66.4% which is in the range 0.600–0.799 or included in a strong category, while the remaining 33.6% of student achievement is influenced by other variables which are not investigated in this study. In conclusion, there is a strong relationship between Teachers Pedagogical Competence and Students Achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade XI at SMAN 2 Minas.
