Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation for entrepreneurship in the people of West Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The population used in this study is the people of the West Rengat sub-district who carry out business activities focusing on three villages, namely Sungai Dawu Village, Sungai Baung Village and Pematang Reba. While the sample in this study amounted to 15 people using purposive sampling. The method used is descriptive analysis method. For the data analysis method using the help of the SPSS 21.0 program. The results of this study indicate the factors that motivate a person to become an entrepreneur which include individual, level of education, personality, family encouragement, environment and association, self-esteem and circumstances.
