Abstract

The development of social media at this time is very fast, one of which is Instagram social media. Instagram is in great demand by the public where the social media Instagram provides a service for sharing photos and videos for its users. This study uses a visual method, it is used with the aim of being able to describe the forms of body shaming, to analyze comments on Instagram regarding forms of body shaming treatment. And analyzed using the cyberbullying theory, which is a form of verbal and non-verbal bullying carried out through electronic media such as cell phones or computers, such as sending short messages containing hatred towards someone, saying things that insult the feelings of others in a chat or spread rumors about someone over the internet. The results of this study are that there are still many social media users doing body shaming without any clear factors. Body shaming doers do this without realizing it, for fun or because of bad habits. The form of body shaming is by making comments with words that are inappropriate or offensive to the victim. There are no driving factors such as hatred, resentment or other factors towards the victim. Body shaming is done because there are still many people who like to comment on other people without thinking about it being bad for the victim, it can even interfere with the victim's mental health. However, the perpetrator is not aware of this, the perpetrator does not feel guilty or just feels normal about his actions.
