Abstract

The Personnel and General Affairs Subdivision of the Riau Provincial Tourism Office is one of the subsections under the Secretariat Section which is tasked with taking care of all administration and records as well as documentation of meetings or office meetings. In carrying out its duties and functions including serving and providing information to parties in the Tourism Office and the general public, the Personnel and General Affairs Subdivision always strives to improve the performance of its employees. This study aims to find out and analyze how interpersonal communication in improving employee performance is carried out by the Personnel and General Subdivision of the Riau Provincial Tourism Office. Interpersonal communication is communication carried out by two or more people face-to-face so that the message conveyed can be understood and received a direct response. This research uses qualitative descriptive research methods. Determination of subjects in this study using purposive sampling techniques. The informants in this study were 5 people. Data collection uses interview, observation and documentation techniques. The data analysis used is to use data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study, namely interpersonal communication in improving employee performance in the Personnel and General Affairs Subdivision, are carried out through interpersonal communication activities such as an attitude of openness, an attitude of empathy, a supportive attitude, a positive attitude and equality
