Abstract

Fuel Cell is an electrochemical conversion device that produces electricity from the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Fuel Cell works like a battery, it just doesn't require recharging because it will continuously generate electricity as long as the fuel, hydrogen and oxygen are met. Palm oil shells are also one of the wastes which account for 60% of the kernel oil production. Palm kernel shell waste is grayish black, irregular in shape, and has a fairly high hardness. Palm shells contain cellulose by 45% and hemicellulose by 26%. The working procedure in this study consisted of several stages, namely the preparation of the test sample, weighing the composition of the material, the compression molding process, and the screen printing process. The compression molding process in the research was carried out, namely to make polymer conductor plates based on palm shell ash before screen printing using graphite. The next procedure is electrical conductivity testing, microstructure observation, and bending test after the screen printing process is carried out to get the value of the specimen. In this study, the manufacture of composite conductor plates uses a screen printing process. The characterization of the composite conductor plate is needed to determine the variation of the addition of carbon graphite needed to increase the conductivity of the composite conductor plate for PEMFC applications. In addition, it will also be seen its effect on the microstructure, electrical conductivity and hardness of the plate. For the screen printing process on the ash plate of palm shell ash as a polymer conductor plate in the future, please pay attention to variations in composition and methods during the implementation of the coating in order to get results. or maximum value.
