Abstract

The need for electrical energy is increasing along with the development of the industry. One way to utilize radiant energy from sunlight is to convert it into electrical energy through solar cells or photovoltaic. Solar cell (solar cell) is a tool that can be used to convert sunlight into electrical energy. Pekanbaru is one of the cities in Indonesia that has a high ambient temperature, which ranges from 23° to 35°, the temperature is quite high, so it is necessary to make efforts to cool the solar panels so that the output power produced is optimal. Because of these problems, it is necessary to do research on the effect of water coolants on solar panels on the performance of solar panels. This study aims to determine the effect of water coolants on solar panels on the performance of solar panels. In this study, solar panels were cooled with 5 types of water coolants, namely Air, LONG, KX, Super 1, Prestige. From the results of the study, it can be seen that water coolants have an influence on the performance of solar panels. This happens because the boiling point of water is lower than that of water coolants, so water coolants absorb heat better from solar panels. From the results of the study, 5 types of water coolants, KX water coolants have the best performance effect.
