Abstract

Street vendors are informal sector businesses that cause problems in urban areas, such as street vendors in Senapelan sub-district, Pekanbaru city. The existence of street vendors is considered to disturb the order and damage the beauty of the city. Based on the background of this research, the formulation of the problem is how is the role of the Pekanbaru City Trade and Industry Office in fostering street vendors and what are the inhibiting factors. In this research, the writer uses descriptive type by using quantitative analysis. The results showed that the role of the Pekanbaru City Trade and Industry Office in providing guidance to street vendors in Senapelan District was quite instrumental but not yet effective. Factors that hinder the Pekanbaru City Trade and Industry Office in providing guidance to street vendors are the lack of facilities, the refusal of street vendors to relocate and the lack of programs in fostering these street vendors.
