Abstract

Illegal fishing is a fishing activity that contravenes the regulations that have been stipulated in Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning fisheries and has resulted in many losses to the state. So that it creates public unrest and causes reactions to illegal fishing. The purpose of this research is to know the reaction of the people of the fire - fighting society to illegal fishing and to find out the occurrence of illegality in the waters of Bagansiapiapi. While the benefits or u sefulness of this research are theoretically expected to provide information for students and the wider community and can be a reference for further research regarding the reaction of the fire society to illegal fishing and is expected to provide informati on to the public about how complex the problem of illegal fishing in Bagansiapiapi waters is since past until now and how important the role of all people is in tackling the illegal fishing problem. This research method uses qualitative methods that descri be the true situation of what is happening in the research location through collecting, identifying, and analyzing data so that an answer or problem is formulated and understands the meaning of a number of individuals or groups of people ascribed to social problems. The formal reaction to the perpetrators of illegal fishing is by taking actions in accordance with the statutory regulations on what the perpetrators of illegal fishing have done and imposing sanctions with the applicable law. In - formal reaction s of illegal fishing actors that have caused unrest in all circles of society by taking action against illegal fishing actors by being secured and given directions or socialization as well as warnings and being sent back to their respective regions, non - fo rmal reactions given to illegal fishing actors, by securing the perpetrators of illegal fishing and then reporting the incident to the authorities.
