Abstract

Educational institutions are required to improve the human morals as a main goal and demand of education so that the students will have good and noble characters. Therefore, the intensive coaching efforts are needed in moral education so that the moral awareness is embedded in students minds, and in the end the good morals in students attitudes and behaviors can be reflected in everyday life. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of Islamic Studies learning on students moral formation in grade IX at SMP IT Aziziyah Pekanbaru. The object of the study is the students’ moral formation. The method of the study is quantitative with a correlation approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and questionnaires. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Islamic Studies learning has an influence on the students’ moral formation in grade IX at SMP IT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru in the high category. From the test results of 100 samples, the Islamic Studies learning (variable X) has a mutual influence on the students moral formation (variable Y), it is known that the data range is 0.795-0.761 and for the variable of moral formation is 0.544-0.705. The limit of r table for N(100) = 0.1966, so that all question indicators from the two variables are stated valid, this is because all question indicators have values that the r score > r table. The t statistic value is 9.440 and a significance value is 0.000. This study has a dependent variable with 100 samples. It means that the two variables are strongly correlated and the direction of the relationship is positive. It can be concluded that if the value of Islamic education learning is higher, the moral formation will be higher too.
