Abstract

students face several problems in learning vocabulary which includes the lack of pronounced the vocabulary, less understanding in grammar like part of speech afraid of making mistake and hardship in memorizing new vocabulary. Therefore, it is necessary to find out whether or not word wall could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The data in this research were gathered through pre-test and post-test in two different classes. One is the control class, and the other is the experimental class where the researcher implemented word wall media. There were 62 students who participated in the research. After conducting pre-test in both classes, the researcher taught the students for four meetings. Then, the researcher conducting the post-test to see the result of using word wall media. The results showed that the students in experimental classes gain improvement in their vocabulary test as much as 27.58 point in average. The students’ average score was increased from 57.26 to 84.84. Meanwhile the students in control class, which were not given any treatment, only gain improvement as much as 10.32 point in average. The students average score was increase from 55.97 to 66.29. Therefore, the implementation of word wall media in teaching vocabulary has been proved to have a significant effect to the students vocabulary mastery
