Abstract

ABSTRACT Financial technology or often referred to as fintech is a technology created for financial needs. Things that are related to finance but are accessed through technology are also called fintech. Nowadays, many banks use the fintech system because in addition to saving time, it can also be accessed anywhere. Fintech is also known as a combination of transactions and technology so that fintech changes the types of transactions that were originally traditional where each party met each other and carried out transactions with a certain amount of money. As for in this study, there are main problems that will be discussed, namely, Legal Protection for Online Investment Users in Pekanbaru City and the second Obstacles Received by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) When Handling Online-Based Investments in Pekanbaru City and the objectives of this research are: the same as the formulation of the main problem, namely to find out the results of the formulation of the problem made by the researcher. This legal research belongs to the type of survey research (Observational Research). This type of research method is intended to solve problems that exist at the present time by collecting data and compiling or clarifying it, then analyzing and seeing a legal reality in society to then obtain a result. The results of the research that the author obtained are: Legal protection is provided by the Financial Services Authority as an institution that carries out regulatory and supervisory duties in the field of financial services activities in the capital market sector in this case online mutual funds. This is in accordance with what is mandated in Article 6 letter (b) of Law Number 21 of 2011 concerning the Financial Services Authority. Legal protection for online mutual fund investors is also contained in Article 34 of OJK Regulation Number 39/POJK.04/2014 concerning Selling Agents. Mutual Fund Securities. The obstacles received by the Financial Services Authority in Online Investment are the existence of illegal online investments so that many people are harmed, and this illegal investment is of course under the auspices of the OJK itself. So that people believe and invest in some of these illegal platforms.
