Abstract
A child with special needs is a child who needs attention and development that is prioritized to provide equal rights and obligations as a child who is able to have psychomotor, cognitive and affective abilities, but basically a child with special needs must have personal interaction and communication from a teacher. in special schools (SLB) and parents. communicate and have skills in life. For children with special needs, they must have more intense interpersonal communication carried out by teachers and students because it is one of the learning methods that makes a child acceptable in the community. The purpose of this study was to find out how the teacher's interpersonal communication in learning activities for children with special needs and the inhibiting factors. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were the SLB principal, the Dumai Timur State SLB teacher, parents and guardians of students and children with special needs and their companions. teachers in learning activities at SLB Negeri Dumai Timur interpersonal communication in learning activities for children with special needs has given good things and is able to fulfill the 5 components (openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality) in interpersonal communication, so that communication that occurs in extraordinary schools is in accordance with the wishes and expectations of parents in make children with special needs are in a good interaction phase and accepted in their environment.
