In planning of drilling, determination of kick tolerance is a necessary thing to conduct, it relates to safety factor during drilling operation. If the number of kick volume exceeds kick tolerance limit, it causes blow out which is hard to overcome. R well is one of development wells, based on the data of well “R” there’s kick that locates at two depth points, the first one is at 360 ft and the second is at 680 ft. The analysis and calculation of kick tolerance is carried out to figure out appropriate casing depth that can hold kick so the blow out won’t occur. The data used to calculate kick tolerance that occur in well “R“ (offset well) include depth, pore pressure, fracture gradient pressure and LOT. These data turn into a pressure window curve to determine the casing setting depth with bottom to top. From the results of window mud curve oberservation, we obtained the casing depth of each section and correct it with the calculation of kick tolerance. The results of analysis and calculation of kick tolerance on R wells are 6.04 bbls on the second route from TVDshoe 186 ft to TVD 460 ft. 5.44 bbls on the third route from TVDshoe 460 ft to TVD 860 ft. From the results of kick tolerance analysis in well R there is a kick of 0.5 ppg which is shown in the mud window curve where the pore pressure of the formation exceeds the number of mud weight. Therefore, by looking at the calculated results and comparing with well R that have drilled, it is recommended to apply the calculation of the kick tolerance as a reference in the upcoming well “R”.
