Abstract

Motivation is a drive or impulses that exist in humans that can cause, direct, and organize their behavior. Thus motivation is an impetus that is contained in a person to try to make changes in behavior that better meet his needs. Motivation has three aspects, namely aspects of desire, belief, and hope. While the veil is a cloth that covers the face from the top of the nose to the neck. A veiled student is a student who uses a veil on campus. The purpose of this study was to determine how the motivation of the Psychology Department student to use the veil at the Psychology Faculty of the Islamic University of Riau. This study involved two subjects, namely a student majoring in Psychology, Riau Islamic University, who wore a veil. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. The results showed that the factors that caused the two subjects to use the veil were because they believed that the law of the veil was sunnah, wanted to be protected from slander, and because of the hope factor that they could become a better Muslimah and more devout to religion. The results showed that there was a positive impact experienced by the two subjects after using the veil, namely that the veil they used could be a medium for da'wah for others. The negative impact felt by the two subjects after wearing the veil was the opposition from several large families, the existence of cynical views from the community, and the existence of distance guarding by other Riau Islamic University Psychology students.
