Abstract

Every work has its own obstacles that make individuals become stressed at work. Strss is pressure that affects emotions, thought processes and physical disturbances that can hinder a person’s performance. Social support is expected to reduce work stress for employees. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and work stress on the employees of the labor offices in Siak Sri Indrapura. This design of this research uses quantitative method and using a scale as a data collection technique. The scale used is the scale of social support and work stress scale. The population of this study were the employees of the Siak regency manpower office as many as 60 employees.The respondent are consisting of 60 respondent by use sampling technique that is total sampling which means sampling is based on the total population. Based on the results of data analysis. The results of calculations using correlation analysis techniques obtained a correlation product moment coefficient (r) of -0.311(p <0.05). Based on the results of the determinant test, the coefficient value (r-squared) was 0.070. This means that social support provides an effective contribution of 7% to work stress in the workforce in Siak Sri Indrapura, while the remaining 93% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
