Abstract

The background of the study is the lack of honesty in students. The development of honesty in students should be paid more attention because honesty is a further foundation in developing the morals of students. The problem formulation of the study consists of: 1) The form of spiritual activities in instilling honesty in students, and 2) The implementation of spiritual activities in instilling honesty in students. The aim of the study is to find out: 1) the form of spiritual activities in instilling honesty in students, and 2) the implementation of spiritual activities in instilling honesty in students. The type of the study is a qualitative research with a case study approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews, observation and documentation. After the data are collected then the data are processed and analyzed through the steps of data reduction, data display and conclusion of the overall data obtained from interviews, observations and documentation. The results of the study show that the process of instilling honesty in students requires cooperation between both parties, namely teachers and parents, whereas the school participates in planning, implementation, and evaluation as a benchmark of success in instilling honesty at school by participating in Islamic spiritual activities. Meanwhile, the parents teach honesty to students when they are outside school. The existence of spiritual activities is expected to be one way to instill honesty in students by adjusting it to one of the school’s visions and missions by habitualizing discipline, responsibility and honesty in the school environment.
