Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether there is an influence of assertive communication style of Islamic Studies teachers on students’ learning motivation in grade XII Science at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The type of this study is correlational quantitative research. The subject of the study is the students in grade XII at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru, and the object of the study is the assertive communication style of Islamic Studies teachers on students’ learning motivation in grade XII Science at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The population of the study consists of 222 students with a sample of 143 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires, observation and documentation. Based on the data analysis, it is known that there is an influence of assertive communication style of Islamic Studies teachers on students’ learning motivation at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis, it is known that the significance value is 0.000. As 0.000 is less than 0.05, so the atlernative hypothesis is accepted. The influence of the assertive communication style of Islamic Studies teachers is 0.107 or 10.7% and it is categorized as very low, because it is in the range of 0.00-0.199 in the correlation coefficient interpretation table, while the remaining 89.3% is influenced by other factors. Thus the hypothesis is accepted, the level of relationship between the assertive communication style of Islamic Studies teachers and the students’ learning motivation at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru is in the very low category.
