Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of students’ reading interest, the symptoms; students were not interested, students were lack of attention, and students were not respond in reading activity. The formulation of the problem in this research was how teacher’s strategy on improving students’ reading interest in Islamic education lessonclass VII at junior high school 4 Tapung Hulu Kampar Regency. The purpose in this research examined to know teacher’s strategy in improving students’ reading interest in Islamic education lesson at junior high school 4 Tapung Hulu. The subject in this research was Islamic education teachers at junior high school 4 Tapung Hulu. The object in this research was teacher’s strategy in imporving students’ reading interest. The method used qualitative with case study approach. The main informant was Islamic education teachers at junior high school 4 Tapung Hulu Kampar regency that was Mr. MakmurS.Ag, Mrs. SitiRolizaS.Pd. Data collection technique used structural interview, participative observation, and documentation. Data analysis and computation used reduction data, display data, verification, and validity data. Furthermore, research finding based on structural interview and participative observation showed that Islamic education teachers had been used strategies in improving reading interest based on theory (1) they provided teaching material, (2) they pushed students’ motivation, (3)stimulation, (4) library visit, (5) reward, (6) reading task, (7) reading activity agenda.
