Abstract
The development of composite technology is not only on synthetic composites, but also leads to natural composites (Natural Composites) due to their unique properties that can be recycled or other terms are renewable. This study aims to make natural fiber composite materials and epoxy resin on mechanical properties. In this study, the composition of oil palm empty fruit bunches and acacia bark fibers with a value of 15% + 5%, 10% + 10% and 5% + 15% with 80% epoxy resin adhesive. The results of the bending test showed that the composite mixture of 80% epoxy resin, 15% palm empty fruit bunch fiber and 5% acacia wood powder had the lowest bending strength value of 9.95N/mm2, while the composite mixture was 80% epoxy resin, 5% bunch fiber. empty palm oil and 15% acacia sawdust had the highest bending strength value of 20.84 N/mm2. This is because the mixture of acacia sawdust has a coarser, stronger, denser and heavier structure than oil palm empty fruit bunches which have a lighter, brittle and hollow (not dense) fiber structure. The results of the highest impact strength from a mixture of natural fibers 80% epoxy resin, 15% acacia wood powder and 5% EFB with a value of 134 J/mm2. This is because the amount of mixture of acacia is greater then the strength of the specimen is higher because the more acacia fibers, the more the strength of the specimen continues to increase.
