Abstract

In the petroleum industry, the flow of fluid from the reservoir to the surface can be done in two ways, namely naturally and using a pump/artificial lift. In this study, the use of an ESP (Electric Submersible Pump) pump was used. The damage factor to the ESP pump during operation can cause various things such as scale formation, the production of sand from below the surface, mishandling, and the production of gas to the surface causing it to decrease or even stop the production rate. Difa is one method that can prove the damage that occurs to the pump caused by technical problems or caused by reservoir formation characteristics. where this data is obtained by way of the ESP unit from the well and dismantling them one by one at the BTPU Shop to be analyzed for the damaged ESP and with the results of the analysis of the results of the problem solving that caused the damage to the ESP pump. Sand problems are the most common problems in field X with 41% of cases out of 90 wells carried out by DIFA, followed by 31% scale, 24% electricity, and 7% mishandling. Mishandling problem can be solved by observing the recommended ESP pump installation procedure. Sand problems can be solved by cleaning the wellbore while working, correcting equipment, reducing grazing forces, resin coated sand packs, using sandscreens, and reducing gravel packs to reduce the abrasive nature of the sand. Scale problems can be overcome by cleaning the well before installation and performing chemical well treatment to control scale. Electrical problems can be solved by knowing fully the condition of the reservoir to determine the type of equipment that is suitable for the temperature reservoir, as well as installing the O-rings and potheads correctly.
