Abstract
Plastic waste is a very common problem in urban areas. One of the best steps to reduce waste is to reuse and recycle. This study aims to determine the effect of hot press temperature on physical and mechanical properties of plastic waste molded into products. In this study, the recycled material, namely HDPE plastic, was given a temperature variation of 100 o C, 120 o C, 140 o C with a pressure of 5.2 Mpa from a hot press machine and held for 1 hour. The results of microscopic observations show that there are many pores or cavities at temperatures of 100 C and 120 o C, while at a temperature of 140 o C, microscopic observations show that there are few pores or cavities. The highest bending test results in sample 3, which is a temperature of 140 o C at 36.23 Mpa, while the lowest bending value is in sample 1, which is a temperature of 100 o C at 16.62 Mpa. This is caused by. There is a relationship between temperature and bending value, where the increase occurs linearly because the higher the heat press temperature given increases the bending strength value. the highest impact price is 0.4209 J/mm² at a hot press temperature of 100 o C, while the lowest impact price at a hot press temperature of 140 o C is 0.2941 J/mm². This is because the higher the injection temperature and pressure during the production process, the more amorphous atoms are formed in the plastic material. So that the higher the impact price, the easier it will be to break (brittle) and conversely, the lower the impact price, the more resilient HDPE plastic recycling products will be. o
