Abstract
The design of a plastic recycling hot press (HDPE) machine is a tool that is useful for recycling plastic waste into products such as vehicle spare parts, wall hangings and as a substitute for ceramics. The design of the hot press machine aims to have the advantages of being portable, lightweight and producing quality products. In this study, the type of plastic processing is carried out by a thermoforming process with a hot temperature of 270oC and a pressure of 5.2 MPa. The results showed that the components of the hot press machine consisted of a screw jack, mold, frame, heater and REC 100 temperature control, the power consumption of the hot press machine was 0.9 kW or 1.2 HP. The forces acting on the hot press machine are the compressive force and the resisting force from the strength of the welded joint. The results of the strength of the welded joint can withstand the pressure exerted by a screw jack with a shear stress of the weld section of 11.83 N/mm2 < 23.5 Nmm2 (the strength of the welded joint between the frame is safe to withstand the load) and the production of a hot press machine for HDPE plastic recycling has a production capacity of 0.0278 gr/second
