Abstract

This study aims to investigate the difference of students’ abilities to memorize Al-Qur'an after using the Ummi method and the Kitabah method at SDIT Al-Fikri Islamic Green School in Pekanbaru. The type of the study is a quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test design. The study has a control group and an experimental group. The population of the study is the students in grade V at SDIT Al-Fikri Islamic Green School in Pekanbaru as many as 24 students with a sample of 24 students. The data collection techniques of the study are tests and documentation, while the data analysis technique of the study is the statistical t-test technique (independent and paired samples) performed by SPSS 22 software. The results of the study show that there is a significant difference (sig .001) between students who use the Ummi method and the Kitabah method. Based on the study, the Ummi method is proven to be more effective in improving students’ abilities to memorize Al-Qur'an which can be compared from the significant level (sig .000) between pre-test and post-test.
