Abstract
The phenomenon of stress experienced by students has increased recently. Students are willing to end their lives tragically. This is caused by the problems that occur in the work of the thesis, both sourced from lecturers, research, and the required data. To reduce the level of stress they experience, students need social support as well as from peers. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence between peer social support on stress levels in final year students in writing a thesis at the Islamic University of Riau, Faculty of Psychology and Mechanical Engineering. other subjects from the faculty of mechanical engineering. In this study, the method used by researchers is non-probability sampling. Researchers used the peer social support scale in the research data collection technique as many as 35 statements while on the stress scale there were 32 statements. Hypothesis testing carried out by the author uses a simple regression technique with a calculated F value of 6.661 and a sig value (0.011) < (0.005), so the hypothesis that the researcher gets is accepted. This means that social support has a significant effect on the stress level of UIR students from the psychology and mechanical engineering faculties statistically. This statement shows that Peer Social Support has an effect on student stress levels.
