Abstract

This study aims to: 1). Analyzing the characteristics of oil palm FFB farmers and traders in Pangkatan Village, Pangkatan District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province. 2). Analyzing the institutions, channels, and marketing functions of oil palm FFB in the village of P force, Pangkatan District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province 3). Analyzing marketing costs, marketing profits, marketing margins, farmer's share and marketing efficiency of fresh fruit bunches of oil palm in P village, Pangkatan District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province . The method used in the research is a survey method, the research was conducted in Pangkatan Village , starting from August 2021 to January 2022 . Sampling of farmers was carried out by means of Simple Random Sampling of 40 farmers, as for 2 FFB traders/agents and 1 wholesaler (RAM) using the Census method. The results showed 1). The average age of farmers is 46,3 years, the average education level is 9 years, the experience is 11,98 years, the number of dependents is 3 people on average. The average age of traders is 42.5 years, the average education level is 10.5 years, the experience is 10 years in average , the number of dependents in the family is 3.5 people on average. 2). The marketing institutions and channels involved in the marketing of palm oil are farmers, traders, collectors, RAM, and mills. FFB marketing channel consists of 2 channels. Channel I : Farmers – Collectors – Factory, Channel II : Farmers – Wholesalers (RAM) – Factory. Not all marketing agencies perform overall marketing functions. Farmer marketing functions include sales function, capital function and market information function. The marketing functions of collectors and wholesalers include the purchasing function, selling function, transportation function, standardization function, risk-bearing function, capital function and market information function. Marketing costs on channel I Rp.166.09/Kg, Channel II Rp.146.37/Kg. The marketing margin of Channel I is Rp.300.28/Kg, Channel II is Rp.288.35/Kg. Channel I profit Rp.134.19/Kg. channel II Rp.141.98/Kg. Farmer's Share Channel I 88.29%, Channel II 89.07%. Palm oil marketing efficiency (FFB) which is stated to be the most efficient is in marketing channel II which is 5.54 % and channel I which is 6.47% .
