Abstract

This study aims to determine the pattern of student behavior in using social media, to determine the factors causing the dynamics of student narcissistic behavior on social media, and to determine the impact of student narcissistic behavior on social media, as well as to find solutions in overcoming the dynamics of narcissistic behavior. students on social media. This research method uses quantitative methods. where the sampling used to determine the sample is sample random sampling, namely the technique of taking sample members from the population randomly without regard to the starting point in the population, the sample in this study were students at the Islamic University of Riau. Based on the results of the research conducted above, it can be concluded that, between self-esteem and narcissistic behavior in students at the Islamic University of Riau with a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.306 greater than 0.05 with a significance value of 0.001 (p <0.05). The direction of the relationship obtained in this study is that there is a significant negative relationship between self-esteem with narcissism to the students of the Islamic University of Riau. So the higher the self-esteem, the lower the narcissistic behavior. Vice versa, the lower the self-esteem, the higher the narcissistic behavior of the Riau Islamic University students.
