Abstract

Riau Province in general has the largest peatland area in Sumatra ± 4.044 million Ha, 56.1% of the Sumatran peat land area or 45% of the Riau Province's land area. The construction of roads on peat soils often causes problems due to the condition of peat soils which have low carrying capacity. This study aims to improve the CBR value of peat soil stabilized by the addition of lime, tire ash (AB), and vegetable waste extract (ELS). Soil stabilization method is one of the methods that is often used to improve the original soil condition with the bearing strength of the soil that is not good enough to be better again. The value of bearing strength in good soil is >6% for laboratory testing and >3% for field testing. Variations of the mixture used are 5% lime, 5% AB, and 10% BLS and 5% lime, 10% AB, and 15% ELS. The curing period is 3 and 5 days. Based on the CBR value test that has been carried out on the original soil and a mixture of lime, tire ash (AB), vegetable waste extract (ELS) with curing time of 3 and 5 days. The CBR value of the original soil at 3 days of ripening was 2.55%, and 3 days of 3,0%. For the CBR value on a mixed soil of 5% lime, 5% AB and 10% ELS at the curing period of 3 days was 5.77%, and 5 days was 6.6%. For the CBR value in a mixture of 5% lime, 10% AB, and 15% ELS at the curing period of 3 days of 7.77%, and 5 days of 11.03%, it can be seen that the highest CBR value is found in a mixture of 5% lime, 10% AB, and 15% ELS with a curing time of 5 days. The amount of variation of the mixture and the length of curing time are factors that affect the CBR value.
