Abstract

The development of information technology has made a significant contribution to the government community, as well as the industrial or corporate world. In the era of globalization as it is today, the development of science and technology is advancing rapidly, this is also accompanied by the many needs needed by humans, both primary and secondary and all of which humans need quickly in order to meet their daily needs. . However, the fact is that online transactions can cause harm to consumers. Losses experienced by consumers are caused by the non-fulfillment of achievements that should be made by business actors. The formulation of the problem in this study are: 1. What is the responsibility of online business actors to consumers who are harmed by receiving goods that are not in accordance with the agreement. 2. What legal remedies can be taken by consumers who are harmed by online business actors who do not provide goods according to the agreement. The approach method used in this paper is an empirical approach, which is a research approach used to describe the conditions seen in the field as they are, which are then linked to legislation, legal theory, and expert opinions. The research carried out is case studies and legislation. Analysis of the data used is by using a qualitative descriptive method, namely by describing and describing the data and facts resulting from field research by interpreting the data and explaining it in the form of sentences. The results of this study indicate that consumer knowledge about consumer protection in electronic transactions is very lacking. So what happens in the case contained in this thesis is that the consumer as the buyer cannot do much, can only protest through the site of the electronic buying and selling service provider, namely Tokopedia, and does not receive compensation at all from the producer or business actor as the seller on the site and in the case contained in this thesis, the producer or business actor as the seller has acted inconsistently with several statutory provisions. It is proven because the producer or business actor as the seller in the case contained in this thesis has acted to the detriment of the consumer as the buyer in the electronic transaction.
